Selected from a wider series of works that are a response to drawing within the environment.

Works within the series duplicate, reorder and abstract colours and gestures, splinting and grafting to create new harmonies and elements of disquiet.

Tree trunks, branches and leaves are translated into brush marks and strokes. Each one is created quickly, with large brushes and a limited pallet.

The pieces grow flex and eventually muddy as they evolve, an echo of the wooded landscapes they originate from.

The paintings provide a new and chance assembly of space, colour, atmosphere, and energy, that becomes its own place.
